As a practicing wound care specialist upon completion of her vascular surgery fellowship at Boston University Medical Center, her major areas of interest are in the pillars of education, research, quality of care, and community outreach. Dr. Oropallo is an Associate Professor at Zucker Hofstra school of Medicine, Fellow of the American College of Surgeons with board certifications in General and Vascular Surgery. She is a co-founder in the development of Northwell Health’s first regional interdisciplinary wound care conference which continues to educate clinicians in the changing dynamics of vascular wound care. Her involvement nationally includes invited speaking presentations at the American College of Surgeons, Society of Advanced Wound Care, and internationally at the European Wound Management Association. She currently serves on the editorial board for many journals co-authoring numerous articles. She resides on the speaker’s bureau for the American Association of Wound Care, Association of Women Surgeons, and consults for many health care organizations including the American Board of Surgery. Her interests involve translational research with the Feinstein Institute for Medical Research. She is a PI in over 40 clinical research trials including receiving several awards from NIH and AHRQ. She is the recipient of the national Shire Research Award for translational research. She enjoys research on improving patient quality of care through the advancement of vascular wound healing.
